Happy Holidays, Appellate Practice Section Members!
How is everyone doing as 2021 comes to a close? It has been a beautiful December in Florida – the type of weather where you can open your windows and enjoy fresh air while researching and writing. I greatly enjoyed sipping coffee from my APS mug (thank you Immediate Past Chair Chris Donovan!) and celebrating with friends and family. I hope you are also having a safe and joyous holiday season.
It has been a busy month for the Section. Immediate Past Chair Chris Donovan did an amazing job advocating at the Florida Supreme Court on behalf of the Section. (Click here to watch the OA). Thank you for the awesome survey feedback on the Section’s 2022 retreat. I cannot wait to discuss that more at the Winter Meeting on January 27, 2022 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. (For more information on the 2022 Florida Bar Winter Meeting, click here).
We are planning for an in-person meeting, while working closely with the Bar to monitor developments and ensure the protection of our members’ health and safety.
Here is the Section’s official schedule of events:
- Wednesday, January 26, the Section’s Pro Bono Committee continues its partnership with Guardian ad Litem to present Everything Old is New Again, an amazing free CLE training program. The course is from 12 pm to 6 pm.
- Thursday, January 27, our Committees will meet from 10 am to 12 pm (in person).
- Thursday, January 27, we will then convene for a working lunch Executive Council meeting from 12 pm to 2 pm (in person and virtual).
Your Section officers are so looking forward to seeing everyone in person at the Rosen Shingle Creek for these events. It’s not too late to book a hotel room at the Bar’s group rate. The deadline to book a room is January 4 or when the room block sells out, whichever comes first. But, click here to attend our EC meeting virtually if you’re unable to be onsite.
Also, don’t forget about our other upcoming January events:
I don’t know about you, but I am feeling 2022. Let’s get together in January and celebrate the awesome success of the APS!
