Greetings Appellate Practice Section Members,
In my initial Chair’s message, I issued a challenge to all of our members. I challenged everyone to: Bring a friend. Bring an opposing counsel. Bring an associate. Bring a law student. Bring a law clerk. You now have the opportunity to meet that challenge in October.
As with most bar sections and committees, our Fall meeting is virtual. We have spread out the meetings so you can attend more than one committee meeting if you wish.
The schedule is:
• October 17 at 10:00 am – Publications Committee Meeting
Meeting ID: 881 9948 6547
Passcode: 044938
• October 18 at 11:00 am – Outreach and Diversity & Inclusion Joint Committee Meeting
Meeting ID: 823 8954 4435
• October 19 at 1:30 pm – CLE Committee Meeting
Meeting ID: 826 9556 5858
Passcode: 497488
• October 26 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm – Executive Council Meeting
You may have noticed that the Section avoided scheduling meetings on October 19 and 20. This is because the Section is hosting the Eleventh Circuit Appellate Practice Institute (ECAPI). This year’s event is in Tampa. For anyone with a federal practice or who wants to learn more about federal practice, this is a must attend event. Numerous federal judges are speaking on panels, as well as a former Solicitor General of the United States, Florida’s Solicitor General, and several attorneys from the Department of Justice. Plus, the course has 12 hours of appellate and criminal appellate board certification credit available.
I hope to see you and a friend at one of these events.
